Mahabaleshwar is a high Western Ghats hill station known for forested viewpoints, the Krishna River source tradition, seasonal strawberries and easy pairing with Panchgani.

• Arthur's Seat and viewpoint circuit — several overlooks can be grouped by road; visibility is weather-dependent.
• Venna Lake — boating and a busy recreation area close to town.

Planning the visit

Two nights suit Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani. Road access from Pune and Mumbai is standard. October to May is popular; monsoon is green and dramatic but often foggy, with reduced views and slippery roads.

Weekends and holidays bring congestion. Start viewpoint drives early and do not stop vehicles at unsafe roadside corners.
