Overview
Leh is Ladakh's principal town and the main acclimatisation base for journeys through the Indus valley and toward high passes, monasteries, lakes and remote valleys. The first planning priority is altitude adjustment, not a packed sightseeing list. A successful Leh stay balances rest, medical awareness, permits, transport and gradual activity.
