Overview
Alappuzha is one of Kerala’s principal gateways to the backwaters: a low-lying landscape of canals, lakes, paddy fields and settlements connected by water. A strong visit is not simply a night on a houseboat. Public ferries, canoes, Kuttanad, coir history and the coastal town reveal different parts of the region.
