When a storm comes
Two kinds of storm, one with a forecast and one without, and a way of looking at the second kind.
From class on 14 October.
There are two kinds of storm. The outer kind comes with a forecast. The inner kind arrives when it likes, and nobody knows when.
Two questions we were asked to think about, and to share with one or two people in class:
- When something painful is happening to me, am I remembering God (Baba), or are many thoughts running?
- When I saw a painful scene, what was my own state?
Then a way of speaking to myself when trouble comes. I wrote it down almost word for word:
This is nothing. Even this has come for my good. There is certainly something good hidden in it, and something good will come out of it. It looks like a storm, but it has come light. This is certain. And if God is with me, what can this do to me? He and I will blow it away together.
And the reason for building strength: so that I do not panic when something happens.
Two resolves for the home that went with it:
- I am the powerful soul of my house.
- There is peace in my house, so that anyone coming from outside also feels peace.
