Junagadh sits below the Girnar hills and works as a compact base for fortifications, stepwells, mausoleums and one of Gujarat's most important pilgrimage landscapes.

- Uparkot Fort — the city's principal historic complex, with gateways, rock-cut remains, stepwells and elevated views.
- Mahabat Maqbara — an ornate 19th-century mausoleum complex near the railway area.
- Ashokan rock edicts — inscriptions connected to the Mauryan emperor and later rulers.
- Girnar — a major sacred hill with Jain and Hindu temples; the traditional climb is demanding, while ropeway access serves part of the route.
- Darbar Hall Museum — regional royal and material history; confirm current opening arrangements.
Planning the visit
Two days cover Junagadh and a focused Girnar visit. The city has railway and road links across Saurashtra. October to February is most comfortable. Begin Girnar early, carry water and treat pilgrimage areas as living sacred spaces.
