The seven values

A ladder of seven qualities I was taught, and the idea that being good is a need of the soul, not a choice.

In an early class we drew a ladder with seven rungs. In Rajyoga these are called the soul's original qualities, and I wrote them down in this order:

  1. Knowledge
  2. Purity
  3. Happiness
  4. Peace
  5. Love
  6. Power
  7. Bliss

We were asked, "What are the situations in which you get angry?" Then came the sentence I wrote on my page: being good (satoguni) is not a choice, it is a need of the soul. In Rajyoga we learn that peace and love are the soul's own nature, so anger is not who we are.
