Other people's rubbish

If my house has rubbish, would I also carry in my neighbour's? Notes on not speaking about others, and why.

October 14, 2026· 1 min read

My notes begin with a list of habits that wear down the soul's own power (aatmik shakti):

  • getting annoyed
  • being upset
  • being sad
  • being worried
  • carrying the past
  • ninda: talking negatively about someone else, and then thinking over their negatives myself

From that, a resolve: I will not speak negatively about anyone. It may even be true, but why should I think about them? I have my own negatives to clean up.

The teacher's picture for this: if there is rubbish in my own house, do I go and bring home my neighbour's rubbish too? My house gets polluted by other people's vibrations. Even listening to it makes the mind heavy.

One more line on this page, which I am not completely sure I read right: the weakness I do not want to be there, I will give good wishes (duaa) for instead.
