Why ComeJava's cultural and spiritual heartland — home to the two most significant ancient temple complexes in Indonesia, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites
Pairs WithJakarta (coming from) and Bali (the final stop, reached by flight)

Highlights

Borobudur

The largest Buddhist temple in the world, built in the 9th century — a stepped pyramid of stacked platforms covered in relief carvings, ringed by bell-shaped stupas at the top, each containing a seated Buddha statue. Best visited at sunrise, both for the light and to get ahead of the day's crowds.

Prambanan

The largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia, also 9th century, and a genuine architectural contrast to Borobudur's rounded stupas — tall, pointed towers dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma, close enough to combine with Borobudur in the same trip.
