Many general travel guides describe Turkey's e-Visa as something any Indian citizen can simply apply for online. That is not accurate for Indian passport holders specifically. Per the Turkish Embassy in New Delhi's own official announcement, and confirmed on the e-Visa portal's own FAQ page:
"India, Bhutan and Nepal nationals are eligible for the e-Visa provided that they hold any supporting document listed below: a valid visa from a Schengen country, the USA, the UK, or Ireland β or a valid residence permit from a Schengen country, the USA, the UK, or Ireland."
This means: if you hold a currently-valid (or previously-used but still date-valid) Schengen, US, UK, or Ireland visa or residence permit, you can use the e-Visa system. If you don't hold one of these, you are not eligible for the e-Visa and must instead apply for a traditional sticker visa through a Turkish Embassy or Consulate (commonly processed via an outsourced visa application partner) β a separate, slower process with its own document requirements.
Turkey requires a visa for Indian passport holders for tourism or business. Depending on whether you hold a qualifying foreign visa/residence permit (see above), you'll either use the fast, fully online e-Visa, or apply for a sticker visa through a Turkish mission.
A visa is required for every visit β there is no visa-free entry for Indian passport holders.
iamravi.com is not affiliated with the Government of Turkey, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or any Turkish diplomatic mission. All application, payment, and issuance steps happen on the official evisa.gov.tr platform, or directly with a Turkish mission for sticker visas β never here.
Apply through the Turkish Embassy or Consulate serving your location in India, following their specified process (commonly involving an outsourced visa application centre) β check the current process and required documents directly with your nearest Turkish mission, since this is a separate track from the e-Visa system described above.
Your passport (or substitute travel document) must have an expiration date at least 60 days beyond your visa's/e-Visa's duration of stay. If applying for the e-Visa, your qualifying US/UK/Ireland/Schengen visa or residence permit must be valid by date at your time of entry into Turkey β previously used or unused single-entry visas are accepted as a supporting document as long as their validity date covers your Turkey entry date. E-visas of other countries are explicitly not accepted as a qualifying supporting document.
The entire e-Visa application is completed online β there is no separate paper form for this route. Sticker visa applicants follow the specific form and process required by their Turkish mission.
Your passport or substitute travel document (valid at least 60 days beyond your intended stay), and your qualifying US/UK/Ireland/Schengen visa or residence permit (still date-valid at your Turkey entry date).
The e-Visa fee varies by nationality and is shown to you after you select your nationality within the official application flow β the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not publish one universal static fee table. We were not able to independently confirm one authoritative current fee figure for Indian nationals from a primary source during this review β check the fee shown to you directly within the evisa.gov.tr application before paying, rather than relying on any third-party-quoted amount.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs describes the e-Visa process as typically completed in about 3 minutes online, with visas commonly issued quickly thereafter β but this applies only if you meet the supporting-document eligibility criteria above. Sticker visa processing through a Turkish mission takes considerably longer and follows a separate timeline.
