Indian ordinary passport holders require a visa to enter Singapore for tourism or business — this is stated directly on the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA)'s own country-specific page for India. Unlike some destinations, Singapore's visa itself is not the same thing as your permission to stay — the visa is pre-entry permission to travel to and seek entry into Singapore, while the actual length of stay is separately granted as a digital Short-Term Visit Pass (e-Pass) at the checkpoint when you arrive.

Choose your purpose of travel

The same visa system covers social visits (tourism, visiting family/friends) and business visits (attending meetings or negotiations) — you specify your purpose on Form 14A and provide purpose-specific supporting documents (see below).

Visa requirement for an Indian passport holder

A visa is required for entry. Holding a valid visa does not guarantee entry — Singapore's immigration officers make the final entry decision at the checkpoint, based on the standard entry requirements (valid travel document, sufficient funds, onward/return tickets, and further travel arrangements if applicable).

Where and how to apply

There are two official routes:

1. Through a Singapore-based local contact who is a Singapore citizen or Permanent Resident with a SingPass account, submitting your application online via ICA's SAVE e-Service.
2. Through an Authorised Visa Agent appointed by the Singapore Overseas Mission (the High Commission of Singapore in New Delhi publishes its current list of authorised agents), or directly at the Mission itself.

ICA does not accept visa applications submitted directly over the counter — you must use one of the two channels above.

Eligibility and passport conditions

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Singapore. All travellers, regardless of age, must hold their own individually issued travel document — collective/family travel documents are not accepted.

Application steps

1. Complete Form 14A, signed by you.
2. Gather supporting documents — see checklist below.
3. Submit your application through your chosen channel: a local contact's SAVE e-Service submission, an authorised visa agent, or the Singapore Overseas Mission directly.
4. Wait for a decision — if approved, your e-Visa is issued (no physical stamp is placed in your passport for most applicants).
5. Complete the separate SG Arrival Card before you travel — this is a free digital arrival declaration and is not the visa itself; every foreign visitor must submit it regardless of visa status.
6. On arrival, immigration officers issue your actual permitted length of stay digitally, via email notification — there is no passport stamp for this either.

Forms required

Form 14A is the core application form. Depending on your case, you may also need Form V39A (Letter of Introduction for Visa Application), which your local contact or sponsoring Singapore business entity provides.

Document checklist

Per ICA's published requirements: the completed and signed Form 14A, a recent passport-sized colour photograph taken within the last 3 months (meeting ICA's photo guidelines), a photocopy of your passport bio-data page (with at least 6 months' validity remaining), and — case by case — a Letter of Introduction (Form V39A) from your local contact in Singapore, or from your own embassy/High Commission if you don't have a local contact.

Photo and biometric requirements

A recent colour photograph (within the last 3 months) is required as part of your paper/digital application, per ICA's photo guidelines. ICA's published process does not describe a mandatory in-person biometrics appointment for standard social/business visit visas in the way some other countries require.

Fees

We have not been able to confirm a single, current, authoritative fee figure directly from ICA or the New Delhi Mission's own pages during this review — published figures vary depending on which channel (local-contact SAVE e-Service vs. authorised agent vs. direct Mission application) you use, and some of that variation reflects agent service charges layered on top of the government fee, not the government fee itself. Confirm the exact current fee directly with the High Commission of Singapore, New Delhi, or your chosen authorised visa agent before paying — do not rely on this page, or any third-party site, for the exact amount.

Appointment process

Standard applications through a local contact or authorised agent typically do not require you to attend an in-person appointment in India — the process is designed to be completed through your chosen intermediary channel.

Processing information

ICA's published guidance recommends applying within 30 days prior to arrival in Singapore, whether applying via a Singapore Overseas Mission or an authorised visa agent.

After submission

Once approved, your e-Visa is issued electronically. Remember that the visa is not your final permission to stay — that is granted separately as a digital e-Pass at the checkpoint on arrival, and its duration is not tied to your visa's validity period.

Common mistakes

• Treating the SG Arrival Card as your visa — it's a separate, free arrival declaration that every visitor must submit regardless of visa status.
• Assuming your length of stay matches your visa's validity — the two are determined separately, with your actual stay duration set at the checkpoint.
• Using an unverified "visa agent" rather than one from the Mission's official authorised-agent list.
• Applying too far in advance — ICA recommends applying within 30 days of your planned arrival.
