At a glance — good news for Indian passport holders

Indian nationals can enter the Philippines without a visa for tourism or business, effective 8 June 2025 — confirmed directly and consistently by the Philippine Bureau of Immigration, the Philippine Embassy in New Delhi, and the Embassy of India in Manila. There are two tiers depending on what other travel documents you hold, both of which are entirely visa-free (the difference is only in how many days you're granted).

The two tiers of visa-free entry

• General 14-day visa-free entry: available to all Indian nationals travelling for tourism or business, meeting standard conditions (see below). This period is non-extendible and non-convertible to any other admission status.
• 30-day visa-free entry (extendable): available if you also hold a valid, current visa or residence permit from one of the following — the AJACSSUK group: America (US), Japan, Australia, Canada, Schengen, Singapore, or the United Kingdom. Per the Embassy of India in Manila's own page, this 30-day period can be extended by a further 7 days.

Both tiers are entirely free — neither requires a visa application or fee. The AJACSSUK document only affects how many days you're granted, not whether you can enter visa-free at all.

Choose your purpose of travel

Both tiers of visa-free entry cover tourism and business purposes only. If you're transiting through the Philippines holding a visa for a destination beyond it, you may still need a Philippine transit visa depending on your specific itinerary. Long-term visits or non-tourism/non-business activities require an appropriate Philippine visa applied for at a Philippine Embassy or Consulate in advance — not the visa-free route described here.

Visa requirement for an Indian passport holder

No visa is required for tourism or business visits meeting the conditions of either tier above. A visa is required only for purposes or durations outside this visa-free scope.

Where and how to "apply" — the mandatory eTravel declaration

• There is no visa application for either visa-free tier — you simply travel and present your documents at the port of entry.
• All travellers, Philippine or foreign, must complete the eTravel declaration at etravel.gov.ph — this can be done up to 72 hours before arrival. Save the QR code generated for presentation at immigration counters.

Eligibility and passport conditions

For the general 14-day tier, per the Bureau of Immigration's own Memorandum Circular, you must present at inspection:

1. A passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay.
2. Confirmed hotel accommodation/booking.
3. Proof of financial capacity (bank statement, certificate of employment, or similar).
4. A return or onward ticket to your next destination.
5. Your completed eTravel registration.

For the 30-day AJACSSUK tier, you need the same passport validity and a return/onward ticket, plus your valid AJACSSUK visa or residence permit — hotel booking and proof of financial capacity are not listed as separate requirements for this tier per the Embassy sources reviewed, though carrying them is still sensible practice.

You must also have no derogatory record with the Bureau of Immigration to be admitted visa-free under either tier.

Application steps

1. Check which tier applies to you — general 14-day, or 30-day if you hold a qualifying AJACSSUK document.
2. Gather your documents: passport (6+ months' validity), return/onward ticket, and (for the general tier) hotel booking confirmation and proof of financial capacity.
3. Complete the eTravel declaration online, up to 72 hours before arrival, and save your QR code.
4. Travel to the Philippines and present your documents and eTravel QR code at the immigration counter on arrival — entry is subject to standard immigration clearance and confirmation you have no derogatory record.
5. Note your stamped stay duration — non-extendible for the 14-day tier; extendable by 7 days for the 30-day AJACSSUK tier, if needed, through the Bureau of Immigration.

Forms required

There is no visa form for either visa-free tier — only the mandatory eTravel online declaration, which every traveller (Philippine or foreign) must complete regardless of visa status.

The 14-day general tier is explicitly non-extendible and non-convertible. The 30-day AJACSSUK tier can be extended by 7 additional days, per the Embassy of India in Manila's own guidance — apply for this extension through the Bureau of Immigration before your initial 30 days expire.

Common mistakes

• Assuming the 14-day general tier can be extended — the Bureau of Immigration's own circular states it explicitly cannot.
• Forgetting the mandatory eTravel declaration, which applies to every traveller regardless of visa-free status.
• Assuming an expired AJACSSUK visa still qualifies you for the 30-day tier — it must be valid and current.
• Trying to use visa-free entry for a purpose other than tourism or business (for example, long-term stays or work), which requires a proper visa instead.
