We found a genuine conflict in researching this page, and want to be upfront about it rather than guess. Multiple independent travel-guidance sources flatly state that Indian passport holders can enter Botswana completely visa-free for 30β90 days. However, the official Government of Botswana website (gov.bw) describes a formal Visitor's Visa and Tourism Visa application process β available online via the official eVisa portal or in person at an immigration office, embassy, or consulate β for "non-citizens from countries that require a visa to enter Botswana." The gov.bw pages we reviewed did not state, one way or the other, whether India specifically sits on that visa-required list. We could not resolve this conflict from the sources available during this review.
Our recommendation: check your specific eligibility directly and for free on the official eVisa portal (evisa.gov.bw) before travelling β if you are in fact visa-exempt, the portal (or your booking process) should make that clear; if a visa is required, you'll be able to apply through the same confirmed, official channel described below. Do not rely on either claim β visa-free or visa-required β without this direct check.
Given the conflict described above, we recommend treating a visa as potentially required and checking your specific status directly via the official eVisa portal before travel, rather than assuming either outcome.

Per the Government of Botswana's own Tourism Visa guidance, your passport (pages 1 and 2) must show a validity period of not less than 6 months.
Form 1 (Application for Visa) is the core document for both the Visitor's Visa and Tourism Visa categories.
For the Tourism Visa, per the Government of Botswana's own published requirements: a certified copy of pages 1 and 2 of your passport (showing 6+ months' validity), two recent coloured passport-size photos, a covering letter stating your reasons for visiting, your flight itinerary and accommodation bookings, a re-entry permit for your country of ordinary residence (if that country requires one), and your trip itinerary confirming your intent to depart Botswana after your visit.
For the Visitor's Visa, additional documents may include a sworn statement/affidavit from your host, copies of marriage/birth certificates (for spouse/dependents), a certified copy of your host's national ID/residence and work permit/exemption certificate, and β for religious visits β certified copies of ordination certificates.
We were not able to confirm a single, current, authoritative fee figure from the primary gov.bw pages retrieved during this review. Check the current fee directly within the official eVisa application process before applying.
Per the Government of Botswana's own guidance, standard processing for both Visitor's and Tourism Visa applications takes 7 to 14 working days from the date of application.
